No resistance after brief stop of pedaling

Hi everyone,
My elite direto XR is acting very strange. It has resistance (both with ERG on and off), even when the trainer is switched off, I can pedal and the flywheel starts turning. But when I briefly stop pedaling and then want to continue, it has no resistance at all and I can't move the flywheel anymore, not until the flywheel has completely stopped. At that point resistance is back and I can continue pedaling.

Does anybody have an idea on how to fix this and/or what might be going on?
