very poor shifting with Zwift Cog, most gears unusable

Postby reach » Tue Aug 05, 2025 12:10 am

Hi. I'm using the Zwift Cog for Elite (hence 18 teeth) and I'm getting very poor user experience. In fact, there is absolutely no difference in gears 1-11. Next to my subjective feeling, I think the screenshots attached prove this objectively.

Zwift is set to emulate a 24 gear shifter.
The front chain ring is 32 teeth. I think I've read that 34 would be ideal, but this can't make much difference.

Also the gears higher than 18 are not usable and miles heavier to push than the mechanical shifting I've had before.

Is this normal? If not, what can I do?

Hi, Did you check your virtual gear settings in "Setting" pulldown -> "Hardware" tab on Zwift ? There are several setting items.

I have the same issue. Elite Direto

Barely any change between gears 1 to 11. Above that they're unusable. I could be spinning along at 40km/h on the the flat, shift into gears 13 or 14 and I grind to a stop almost instantly and the cranks are un-turnable.
