Direto applying too much load at low cadence on Zwift

Postby djburton » Wed Aug 03, 2022 3:18 am

Hi,
I've had my Direto for around 3 years now. I snapped the belt a few months ago and have just fitted the new belt and pulley kit, plus a new freehub as the trainer had become quite noisy.

One thing I have always noticed with the Direto is that on Zwift if you drop away from your target power (in Erg mode), the Direto will often apply far too much load once my cadence drops too far.

This especially happens if you stop pedalling in the middle of a high power effort (even if only for half a second). The load that's then applied by the Direto makes it impossible to get back to the required power effort smoothly. For example in a 300W effort pedalling at 90rpm today I stopped for a second (out of form!) and then when I started pedalling again it was pulling over 450W before I reached 55rpm, so I just couldn't get through the load to reach a sensible cadence and resume at 300W.

Has anyone else had this with Zwift and knows how to fix it?

Thanks
Dom
