Inconsistent Power on Direto
Posted: Mon Mar 25, 2019 7:15 pm
Hi there,
I recently purchased a brand new Direto training and have had a terrible time with it.
Notes:
- I have calibrated the trainer
- The issue happens when I use the internal power meter. The trainer is unusable with my Stages.
- ANT+ dongle is on an extension cable about 50cm away from the trainer
ERG Mode
I am having the same problems with ERG mode that is widely discussed in this forum and have changed the Power Smoothing to 10 config to make the trainer usable. It still sucks though, because the slightest variation in cadence sends me into the "ERG death spiral".
From the forum it seems like Elite believes this is expected behaviour?
Non-ERG mode
I resorted to training without ERG which gives a different issue. When I V02 intervals (350-400 W) the trainer doesn't hold the power constantly. It is as if it slips or tries to adjust the power resistance throughout the interval. This makes holding constant power and resistance impossible.
This problem happens with the following configurations:
- MyTraining iOS Bluetooth
- MyTraining macOS Bluetooth
- MyTraining macOS ANT+
- TrainerRoad macOS ANT+
- Zwift macOS Bluetooth
- Zwift macOS ANT+
At this stage my 4 year old TacX Vortex is a significantly better trainer.
