iphone / ipad

Does the mobile app work with an iPhone or ipad in the absence of having Bluetooth working yet....ie if I connect an ant dongle to the iPhone / ipad will it work?
Indeed there is a special dongle to connect to the Apple devices to enable the ant+ communication, BUT I don't suggest you to buy it as:
1) it's quite expensive (you'd have to buy also an Apple adapter and the total cost will be around 100€)
2) many users are having issues with this dongle (in some cases, it doesn't work at all)
Anyway almost all the recent Apple devices support the bluetooth smart.
Is it your model quite old?
Or do you have a trainer that transmits only in ant+?
