Pedaling Analysis: Elite Cadence Sensor?

Postby pbanders@yahoo.com » Wed Mar 02, 2022 3:34 pm

Hi, I purchased the Pedaling Analysis feature in My E-Training. I have a Direto. The feature seems to work, but I read that to get the most accurate information (exact L/R position) I need to have the proprietary cadence sensor that plugs into the trainer. I see this sensor is available at the Elite shop for a reasonable price (14.5 Euro) but Elite wants about twice as much just to ship it to the US (25 Euro). Is this sensor available in the US for a reasonable price? Are there any other options to using this sensor? Thanks.

Answered my own question, found a cheaper source for US customers.

10% off if you provide your email for promotional messages. Total cost $37.55 USD including shipping. Not cheap, but cheaper than direct from Elite.

FYI, something else Elite doesn't explain. The purpose of the "Camera" icon on the lower left of the Pedaling Analysis screen is to freeze the screen so that you can manually take a screenshot of the plots and data. One might believe that Elite could have helped you out, and made it so that clicking this icon would take a screenshot and put it into your Pictures folder, but you've got to take the screenshot yourself.

Another useful tip that I'm going to try out is that if you have an old Garmin crank-based magnet/reed switch sensor, if you put a 2.5 mm mono pin plug on it, it provides the same functionality as Elite's cadence sensor. Just plug it into the jack next to the power jack. The info on this is contained in this video on YouTube. Note he says it's a 1.5 mm jack, but it's a 2.5 mm.
