Map Courses feature. Spikes in elevation.

Postby TweekySenior » Fri Apr 17, 2020 5:56 pm

Since the last software update, after uploading KML files as a Map Course I'm seeing little 'spikes' in elevation on the route profile that obviously are not 'real'. (see attached example screenshots). These spikes are usually significant in gradient and whilst you might expect to go from 5% to 13% whilst climbing hitting a 15% ramp on a 5/6/7% descent whilst thrashing your 50/11 gear is a bit of an issue.

To narrow down where the problem is I have created KML files s using different file converters and reviewed the same KML files using different KML viewers and it is only when they are imported in to My e-training that the spikes are created.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it just a bug in My e-training?

I'd like to get rid of the issue as it is a real irritation.

Hi

It's the first time I see something like that honestly.
Can you tell me exactly the start and stop points so I can do some test?

Regards

Dear all,
I've faced the same issue (spikes in the elevation); i've maked some test with different website to make the conversion from gpx to kml. The spikes was solved using mygeodata website --> https://mygeodata.cloud/converter/gpx-to-kml .

Another solution is to use GPX Smoother to remove the spikes before the KML conversion.
