Consider that max simulable slope depends on speed. If you pedal too slow, the trainer could not be able to develop enough power to simulate a higher slope. Increase your speed and the max simulable slope will increase too. If this was not the cause of the issue, check also to have done a calibratio...

Th Garmin belts are almost all ant+ only.

It doesn't work in this way.
Slope simulated depends on these factors:
- power
- speed
- weight
So, depending on the speed you're riding on the trainer, power will change and so the simulated slope.
